Yes, they’re just like regular bikes with gears, brakes and pedals.

However, as a rental experience, the real difference is they do a lot of the leg work for you meaning that you don’t need to focus solely on the pedalling and can actually enjoy the wind in your hair and (hopefully) the sun on your face.

Our e-bikes help you make the most from a ride and get you out and about and exploring trails, track and tarmac without the feeling that you’ve climbed Mount Everest!

For someone back to cycling after a break, any of our e-bikes will make riding a whole lot easier.

For the taller rider with a longer leg length, the RadRhino won’t be a problem – just hop on and you’ll be ready to go.

If you’re a little shorter of leg, one of the step-thrus are a better choice first time out.

The RadRhino Step-Thru is the same dimensions of the RadRhino so it is quite a large bike but once moving, it doesn’t feel that way at all and being a step-thru, it’s much more manageable when the e-bike is stationary.

For someone who’s a little unsure about getting back out there, we think the RadRunner is a great choice. It’s also a step-thru but has only the one gear to keep it super simple. Jump on, pick a power assist level and start pedalling!

According to UK law, e-bike riders must be 14 or older.

We can always fit a child seat to our RadRunner if needed (just ask for costs and availability) and the RadRunner has a rear pillion seat and footpegs as standard to carry around a younger rider (or to take a friend along for the ride!)

As with all cycling activities, we would ask for a helmet to be worn at all times when using our e-bikes.

You can either turn up with your own or we have clean and sanitised helmets available to use free of charge. If you’d like to borrow ours, add it to your rental booking online so we know to get one ready for you.

We also have gloves available if needed and again, these are free to use or bring your own. Just let us know on arrival.

All our e-bikes comply with UK road laws, allowing them to be used on the roads legally and without a license or insurance. All are powered by a Samsung 48v 14AH battery, giving you a range of around 40 miles from a single charge.

They all have 5 levels of pedal/power assist to push the e-bikes up to a top speed of 15.5mph.

No, all of our e-bikes have a folding lock mounted to the frame and the lock key is on the fob along with the e-bike’s key.

When the e-bikes are turned on, press the ‘MODE’ button and on the top right of the LCD screen, you’ll see a trip meter. If it’s your first ride out and you’re using a lot of throttle and a higher PAS level, we’d suggest keeping closer to 20-30 miles.

We’d also recommend using the info in the next FAQ below as well as using the trip meter.

Yes, all of our bikes have a twist throttle next to the right handgrip to help get you going. Give it a quick twist when pedalling away from a junction or starting on an incline and it’ll help in getting the bike rolling and keep you steady as you find your balance.

Use it for that and if you need a quick burst past parked cars but don’t keep the throttle on for the whole ride or you’ll find that your battery power drops quickly. Good for short bursts to get the wheels moving but not for using like a moped where the throttle needs permanently twisting.

The RadRhino e-bikes have seven gears and these can be used with any PAS level. We find that depending on the terrain, between gear 4 and 7 is where you’ll be at with 6 or 7 used on the long straights.

The RadRunner keeps it simple and has just the one gear and the five PAS levels for zipping about.

Think of an e-bike as just like a normal bike with an electric motor in there along with a battery to take most of the effort out of cycling from A to B and back to A again.

When you start pedalling, depending on the power assist level the motor will help push you along and keep you going.

The pedal assist on all our e-bikes go from 1 to 5 with 1 being the least assist and 5 being…wow, I don’t need to do much here!

We think of power assist (PAS) 1 being like the cyclist having to put in maybe 90% effort and the bike around 10%, 2 being 80% effort and 20% bike through to level 5 PAS being something like 75% bike and 25% leg action.

Bear in mind, the higher the level, the more battery power it will use but even on a first run using PAS level 5 for the duration, we’d still expect 20 miles+ out of the charge.

On average, all of our e-bikes will go around 40miles or so on a single charge. Now this varies on uphill, downhill, against the wind, pedal assist levels and how much throttle is used.

Thankfully, all of our e-bikes show the charge level left in the battery to help with getting it back to our base.

We’d recommend not using the halfway point on the power level meter as the time to turn back around and head back to us. You could ride into unforeseen issues on the journey back or your legs may need a little more power assist on the home straight.

If the battery drops down to fully empty of charge, all power assist will stop but the bike will still be able to be pedalled.

It won’t lock up or stop working, it will still behave just like a non e-bike, although it will feel like quite a heavy non electrical bike.

Bear that in mind when keeping an eye on the battery power level and to find out what it feels like, turn the PAS off when riding and give your leg muscles a work-out!

The rates are shown when you click on the rent an e-bike button at the top of the page and the drop down menu shows weekday and weekend half and full days, as well as longer rental periods. For longer periods, we can loan you the charger and we’d ask for it to be returned when the e-bikes are back with us at base.

Your card will be charged when booking for the duration of the rental required plus an authorisation for £100 deposit.

This is just in case the e-bike doesn’t come back in the same state it went out in but as long as all is ok when it arrives back, it will stay in your account once the e-bike is returned.

For security, our third party rental system takes the card details and we do not store or have any access to your information except your name and address and that the rental has been paid for.

We’ll let you know where to pick up from in Tarleton with your booking confirmation and we’ll have the bike ready about 10 minutes or so prior to your rental slot.

If you can arrive around this time, it will give us the opportunity to show you the basics of the e-bike and how they work.

We understand that things can happen and we have a recovery van available just in case.
